Building club capacity across Queensland

With assistance from a generous grant by the Queensland Government, we are proud to report the success of our collaborative Club Development program with Judo Australia.
With grant funding we have been able to support Club Development Tours to help connect and develop local clubs wherever they are across Queensland. The first installment of the program saw Shane Alvisio visit Northern Queensland to assist with everything from coaching accreditation through to member retention, club growth and all things inbetween.
Not only are these opportunities essential to thr maintenance and growth of our sport, but also assist with building connectedness across our large state. Together we are closing those geographic gaps and looking for ways that we can add value and provide support to clubs.
“It’s really rewarding to visit remote and regional clubs who don’t see a lot of newcomers or resources. And that’s exactly what Judo Australia can offer Clubs – a guided tour of why they need to be members and how we can help,” Shane explains.
“Plus I get a chance to get on the mat with new people, and that’s always fun. And they get to throw someone new around!”
We are looking forward to the next chapter of the Club Development Tour, funded by the Queensland Government, reaching out to the remaining clubs and continuing to foster those relationships and growth.
