Judo Queensland Leadership Announcement
Published Fri 14 Feb 2025
After serving five years as Chair, Paul De Brincat has stood down for work-related reasons. Paul has been a Board Member of JQ for the past 8 years and will continue as such, concentrating on NQ development. JQ membership increased by 20% in the past year, thanks to a Board focus on participation and development. Under Paul’s leadership, we increased participation and strengthened our technical abilities through coach development, referee skills development, Dan Grading courses and kata development activities. This emphasis continues in 2025, through new capability development programs, including ‘Judo Her Way’ and ‘Project 2032’.
The Board unanimously endorsed Kevin Murphy (6th Dan) as incoming Chair. Kevin is well known to Queenslanders, as Chair of JQ Grades Committee, OJU Veterans Director, JA Veterans Director, a past Deputy Chair of JQ, an IJF Commissioner and JQ Life Member.
On behalf of all JQ members, thank you for everything, Paul, and congratulations, Kevin.
Upwards and onwards!
